The Georgia Radio Reading Service (GaRRS), Georgia’s only 24 hour, human voiced radio reading service for the Blind, Visually Impaired and Print Disabled has partnered with Georgia Tech’s School of Psychology in producing a three-minute monthly radio show series, Assistive TECH, about sound technologies developed by the School’s Sonification Lab for the vision loss community. Under the direction of Dr. Bruce Walker, Associate Professor in the School of Psychology and the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech and founder of the Sonification Lab, researchers in the Sonifcation Lab recently visited with the Thika School for the Blind in Kenya, Africa to demonstrate their latest developments to the students at the school. GaRRS’ volunteer and host of Assistive TECH, Mary Ann Hill, joined the team to cover their activities. You can listen to her series on GaRRS’ broadcast on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. or from GaRRS’ website, “Listen to Our Archives: Assistive TECH.” For more information about Ga Tech’s Sonification Lab, visit their website at http://sonify.psych.gatech.edu/.
